Years back, I had a collie-shepard, Bo. Same problem. Kidneys going out. A vet did a biopsy where he injected something into his kidneys through his coat, pulled out small samples, sent them out to the lab and isolated it to a virus. Until that point, Bo wouldn't drink water, quit eating, apparently painful. The vet treated Bo, gave him I think two years to live, max. Bo lived five more years, very low protein diet. Protien kills kidneys in adult dogs, so gotta cut back. One ting I fed him as he was going through treatment was cooked hamburger, then boiled the grease off, mixed with rice. Bad thing though, even though Bo got real healthy for the better part of those five additional years, at the end of them, his kidneys just quit, and he went quick. The end was sad when it came. I never had a bad dog, he was no different.

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
