Nope, I've run into the same thing. Explanation is that you bought a battery that was warranted for 6 years. If it doesn't make it, we'll give you another under warranty, to get you to the 6 years. But 6 years is all you get, unless you buy another one.
But come to think of it, under that theory, they shouldn't "adjust" the price on the second one, they should just give it to you. Otherwise, you're ending up buying a battery and a half to get your 6 years, and that wasn't what you bargained for.
