Memories of fire in the intake manifold. Back in the days of point ignition & carburetors, I helped out part time running service truck on days like this. When driver had flooded the carb it would sometimes burp & flare up. We would hit starter & suck the fire into engine, start right up. One of the guys would sometimes open choke & throttle, drop in a lit match to burn off the excess. Kinda like starting fluid & match to seat the bead on a tire. Then it would start in a few cranks. Just don't let it melt the carb. They don't advise this method in mechanic school. Willie

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
