I blow off people asking about things other than what I am selling as well, expecially if they are asking ahead of time about something in my pictures. Reason being is simple, Im selling X, not X, Y and Z. If people are insisting on wasting my time, before I have even meet them in person, then Im pretty sure they will waste my time when (or if) they do ever stop to see what I am selling. Another problem I have had is people look at what I am selling and see my "nicer" item and in their mind, down grade what I am selling and sometimes decide they want to buy my nicer item. Example: selling an older lawn mower you want the newer one out of sight or a buyer may feel you are asking too much for your older one or even talk themselves out of the older one when they see your new one. Its very strange but it has happened to me several times and my stuff was priced right, the "not for sale" item was just a distraction.
Now I do things different, people have to be interested in X or I move on to the next buyer (I usually have a number of those so I get to pick my buyer).
