I laughed the other night as the reporter said with a straight face that "Ford is switching to aluminum to reduce the weight of their pickups in order to increase fuel efficiency. Right now a F150 weights about 1000 lbs and that's being cut to 800 lbs.
My guess they're talking about engine weight? I guess the block is cast iron now and perhaps they are going to an aluminum block. Just guessing.
