I have now all the building finished in my lean-to section and I got started to build this wall of the main building
Wednesday was a nice drying day with us in N. Ireland so on Thursday I plastered these 3 sections of wall. You may remember how they got all washed with the water coming off the new roof?
So Mrs40 had to help me put sheets of corrugated out over the wall to stop any drips!
While waiting for the mortar to dry I fitted the window in the tackroom and managed to scratch coat both sides of that wall. The bottom 3 rows of blocks(below the finished floor)took ages to dry and it was dark before it was all 'rubbed up'
My old Pierce cement mixer had to get a few hours of my time on Saturday morning...the paddles had worked loose and one came adrift of Friday evening, so it was out with the genny and grinder. I cut them all out and fitted new bolts and nuts with washers this time! The belt was worn out and slipping occassionally, So I fitted a new belt and greased all 3 zerks, that should leave it good for another 40 years? Yes we bought it in 1973/4!
Although my pic does not show it clearly, but Saturday was so warm that the steam was rising out of this wall!
This was my view when I was building on Saturday, lovely clear skies
. I had all the 1200 blocks used up by Saturday evening. another 300 are ordered for tomorrow morning. The local builders call the 6"x4"x18" blocks, 'Soapbars' and they call these 6"x9'x18" blocks, that I am building.....'sleeping pills'! I can understand that! and also.....Mrs40 prefers to take off her own tights at night now.....must remember to buy hand cream!
