It's always hard when we lose a best friend. We have lost 2 Aussies way before their time. One was run over, and the other was killed in an auto accident we were in. A few weeks after the accident my bride, nursing deep tissue brusing and damage and 5 broken bones said we needed another. She wanted one to hold, and our aging golden retriever that survived was morning the loss of her friend, and her health was declining.
That was one of the best things we did. The golden lived another 3 years, and two years after the new puppy, we acquired a rescued Aussie. The fond memories you have will slowly replace your sadness, and soon you will want and need another.
