I have two of these Jari mowers, both of which have the dual wheel option which pretty much eliminates the problem of the wheels cutting in that Brett refers to and makes it much more stable on side hills. They are sort of crude in design having no clutch; only an "in/out" drive gear that engages the treads of the wheels and having no reverse. Having said that, they are built extremely ruggedly with grease fittings in all the right places and even screw adjustments on the knife section hold downs to make it easy to compensate for normal wear. The original Briggs engines also have a ball bearing main on the PTO end of the crankshaft. There are many of these machines still being used after 50 years; a tribute to their durability. They still make Jaris and I believe they have made them a little more user friendly. They have always been a bit expensive but like they say, "you get what you pay for" After having one, I would not be without one.
