Off hand that number tells me nothing. But yes, there are 3 possible distributors that I can think of. IH made distributors are mounted horizontal. Delco Remy is next popular distributor and mount vertical. And I have seen Auto-lite distributors used with some live hydraulic pumps. They mount vertical as well. I can tell them on sight but you might have to hunt by trial and error. You may find the reason yours eats points is simply because you are using the wrong ones.
