I only go by ambient temps. The "wind chill" is what news people use to make things sound like a disaster all the time.
It was 12 below F here in Hawks Michigan all day yesterday. Paper said it was 22 F below with the wind-sissy factor. Right now at 8 AM it is 3 below F and snowing (by Lake Huron).
I've living in Otsego County NY for 40 years. I've seen 25 below F twice. Last time was early 90s. Here in the hills temps vary a lot over just a few miles. Oneonta and Cobleskill are always 5-10 degrees warmer then where I live.
