Have you ever thought of using a lifter that goes under the bale rather than spearing it through the middle? Although these bales are on a Massey it is only lifted about 18 inches off the ground at the ends of the linkage arms.
This is my 6 bale trailer and single bale lifter. Although I have the lifter made to fit either the 3 point or the loader. It will lift the bales well clear of the trailer on the 3 point......It is just easier to use on the loader....One tractor does all!
We can also buy a single bale lifter here that has folding up prongs so the trailer can be towed behind and still use one tractor for both lifting and hauling.
Some farmers here mount their lifter on a forklift mast on the 3 point. With this attachment they can load two or 3 rows of bales, they can even load on to a lorry/semi trailer.
