JR, It's been known for several years that if you have a record with the police you better check with the Canadian authorities first to see if you can get across the border.
Every time we take a newbie on our Canadian fishing trips we tell him to make sure he is clean. If he can't get in, we let him figure out how to get home....because we are going fishing!
I have zero sympathy or interest in having a friend who drinks and drives...very easy to make new friends with people who know how to conduct themselves.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
