^This. I'm posting from a computer with Ubuntu on it, a Linux variant. I'm guessing it's 8+ years old and it was a $298 Compaq from WalMart. It it much faster than my Windows 7 computer that's only a couple of years old. Updates are free and the chances of a virus are much less than the Windows 7 machine, where I've probably taken off over a half a dozen viruses, even with virus protection.
