My parents live in an old 10 room two story farm house that was built in 1872. They only use 3 rooms during the winter and maybe 5 in the summer. Been in our family since 1926. Dad was born and raised there. We would like for them to move into assisted living now that we found out that is a medical expense and his veterans' benefits would pay up to $2000 a month on it. The old house is in need of repair and my two brothers and I talk that it needs to be torn down after no one lives there any more. We just don't want to stick the money it would take to fix it up. That's all my mom and dad did with it thru all my years is fix it up. Maybe that's why some of these old houses are left to deteriorate.
