You can and I still do buy 'graded seed.True it is not graded as it used to be.You just have to be aware and check more carefully than you used to.I still use an older #70 unit(6x30) to plant around 80 acres yearly.True,the stand wasnt as perfect as the maximerge,but was quite adequet.In the end ,the 'yeilds' were the same as my neighbors.I know this because we planted the same field together-side by side.I have another friend who still uses a #70.His yeilds are right up there with the 'big boys' and their plateless jobs.
