Good Evening, Neighbors! My wife and I just returned home from seeing the movie "The Monuments Men" in Winona, MN. We both enjoyed it, and I recommend it. There is a LOT of footage of restored, historical military vehicles. It got me to thinking: in this tractor/equipment restoration/preservation vocation, are we all not "Monuments Men", trying to preserve a bit of our rural history and heritage? The factories that once stood proudly and built these great machines are largely gone, ie Oliver/White in Charles City, IA; Farmall in Rock Island, IL; Minneapolis-Moline in Minneapolis, MN. Generations of hard-working men and women labored in these places, and what remains are photos and relics. Sadly, we will most-likely never-again see such industrial prowess and fortitude. When we drag an old Super M, or 77, or D-19, or 820, or 9N, or anything else out-of-the-weeds and make it run again, we are preserving a piece of our American Heritage and Culture. So, on this cold, February night, I commend you! Keep up the good work! You are all truly "Monuments Men" and "Monuments Women"! Merlin in Rushford, MN
