I'm not a big sports nut. I might watch a couple of events. It's just not my thing. The events I'd like to watch either will not have full coverage, or will be shown overnight. Bob Costas likes to casually make political statements instead of simply doing his job and that makes me want to puke.
The last summer Olympics, most of what I watched was in spanish on the "Telemundo" network. They were actually showing events I had some interest in watching, and although I don't know much of the language, the commentators seemed to have some interest in the events they were covering.

...I would not want any of my children anywhere around the Olympics in Russia. It is just a terrorist attack waiting to happen.
Terrorism is nothing new as far as Olympic Games go. The bomb placed by a "Good Christian" that went off in Atlanta in '96 that killed a few people and injured dozens more wasn't all that long ago and the "Munich Massacre" in '72 wasn't all that long before that. I would imagine Jim McKay's "...They're all gone." statement is still remembered by a generation of Olympic television viewers and those who've viewed the highlight reels. Neither of these were "terrorist attacks waiting to happen", yet they still happened.
A terrorist attack can happen just about anywhere and just about at any time, at a major event or not. At least the Russians have had time to prepare for any eventuality to the best of their ability.
