: : : The ol' M was giving me a real slow stop when I was going for the brakes and so I tore one apart to clean it and have a look around. Now, I have always read, been told, and just down right assumed that all Farmall M's have band brakes. Once I got it apart, I realized that there was no recognizable brake band in there. Instead, there is a disc that apparently presses against the housing. Am I wrong ?Is this stock? What happened to that easy-to-service brake band I was so looking forward to meeting? Thanks for any help... : : Of course the disc brakes will perform much better than the band once you put new discs in..... : I agree that they will work better the first few times. Let them get warm once and set for a few humid days and you will not have brakes again, or they will grab and not release. Been there - done that!! Yeah there's a Case on the farm that does that and that's what I'm trying to avoid.
