The old town about three miles from where I grew up is pretty well dead and gone...
It used to have 2 stations, 2 grocery stores, a bank, a restaurant, a hardware store, an IHC dealership, a plumbing and heating business, an auto garage and dealership, a Monsanto warehouse with office, a blacksmith shop, and a small grain elevator. Many of the buildings have been torn down.
The town is now filled with people who can only afford cheap housing, there are a lot of domestic disputes, and I think any drug is probably readily available there... not a place you really want to live anymore.
