See if this makes sense to you. I have a Cub Lo-Boy that has 11 hp at the PTO. Last summer at RPRU in Ohio, Nebraska Cowman has his drawbar dyno drag sled setup. After everyone wasn't looking, I asked if I could give it a shot. We disconnected the trailing Hs and just pulled the truck. I made it all the way around the track, but he had to "help" me in a couple places. The highest HP I registered was 2.75 hp. This is saying that all that tractor needs is 2.75 hp because I can't use more of it anyway in those ground conditions. Yea, I could put more weights on it, but whatever. So if you think you need more HP you are nutz. You need more traction first.
I also get a kick out of some of these YouTube movies showing how one brand of truck having "so much more power" than another when hooked bumper to bumper. Both are spinning the tires. So it is not about power, it is about weight and traction.
