oof - thanks for reminding me.
I got robbed last month on NY hay.
Friend of mine got 100 bales, I helped him stack it. I was a little short myself so I asked if I could buy 50 off the trailer too, since they had plenty left.
I said "assuming you're price is reasonable...".
The woman kinda talked in circles about it as we unloaded my 50 bales, but she kept avoiding actually telling me the price.
Got my 50 unloaded, and my wife paid her - I was thinking maybe 4.50 per bale if we're lucky, 5.00 if we're unlucky - 6.00 if we're getting screwed...
My wife came back over to me with steam coming out of her ears - $7.00 a bale! For first cutting, average size/weight bales that I knew everybody else was paying $3.00 for.
Didn't really want to re-load it at that point... I knew it was my fault for not demanding the price before unloading. And it was only 50 bales, so not the end of the world...
But man oh man - I've never bought 7.00 hay before. They were nice people, but I don't think I'll be doing any more business with them.

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
