I believe it is a meter that registers the number of operating hours on the engine. I think the proofmeter is part of the tachometer assembly. A speedometer like cable connects the back of the hydraulic pump to the proofmeter. I'd like to know what Ford does about the back of the hydraulic pump when there is no proof-meter.
