The bait and switch comment reminds me of an experience I had with Sears in the fall of 69. I was a young green kid just out of high school and into college and I needed tires for my 59 Chevy. Bought a set on sale from Sears. The tread was only half as deep as it should have been for a new tire but they were cheap. A month later a belt broke in one of the tires. Went back to Sears for warranty and the first thing they did was measure the shallow tread, comparing it to a new one that had a lot deeper tread than these had when THEY were new. I told them these were only a month old and that was the tread depth they had new. He accused me of burning the tread off, being a kid. This car had a six cylinder. Burning rubber was next to impossible. They would not warranty it because they say the minimum tread depth was past. I have never even considered Sears for new tires since then and that was 44 years ago. Jim
