When I was a kid in JN dad had a Tiger garden tractor with a bunch of implements. He plowed a garden and worked it every summer that I can remember until the year before we moved to MN. He also had a push seed planter he bought from Sears with all the plates. When I was in 8th grade he had to have minor surgery. He was concerned about getting the garden planted. I told him that my sister and I could handle it. Dad always plowed then raked convinced that disking would compact the soil too much. Well I plowed and disked the garden. The planter was too heavy for me to push so I pulled with a rope and my sister steered. We had a bumper crop that year. Dad claimed afterwards that it was because the rows were so crooked that we got twice as much planted as normal.
