The whole drive is about 12-14 miles, bridge itself is 5 miles long. We lucked out and it was a really nice day this year. Comfortable temps and not too windy. There is always a wind blowing though the straits, just a matter of how much wind. Usually there are a couple of days each year when the bridge is closed down due to wind. Semi's are limited to about 1/2 the speed of passenger cars. It's a beautiful sight from the bridge at 260' above the water, but I was too busy driving to take many pictures.
