Here in SE Michigan, I've got 18" of snow on the ground in some places, pond is still frozen so I can walk on and a builder friend said it took the utility company all day to dig a trench for an electric line (about 45'). Backhoe would just chip away at the frozen ground which went down a good 3 feet. He said he's NEVER seen it so frozen in his years of building houses. Had 2 unheated houses under construction have their basement floors heave up. Never happened before.
Considering we're coming up on the end of March, I expect it will take all of April to thaw IF we start seeing temps above freezing which hasn't happened much yet.
