This was my Grandpa and Grandma's farm that they bought in the late 30's. 153 acres for $5000. Grandpa thought he could never pay for it, but had it paid for in 5 years growing cotton. This photo was taken about 1957 when the road was about to be paved, hence the equipment parked out front. My uncle told me they put 5000 bales of hay in that barn one time across the road. The terrace that starts behind the equipment and wanders around to the little road behind the house was a half mile long. My uncle and I planted Tate watermelons on it one year. There is an old WPA outhouse out back and an old concrete building that housed the acetylene generator for gas lights in the house. Oh, the good biscuits that I ate in that house. Richard in NW SC
