When we were dairying, a cow lost its calf to coyotes. Hired man was a hunter, so volunteered to go sleep near the calf with his Model 94 .32 Special, and get the coyotes when they came back the second night to finish off the calf. Dad heard coyotes howling for half the night, but never did hear a shot. Went up the next morning, calf parts scattered all over and mostly just bones left. Woke Terry up, he said, "Well, I guess they never showed up."
