: : have found a restored 70-71 IH Cub with the old L-head 4 cyl. offset engine and tall tires. Owner knows nothing about it but says he paid 2500 for it and wants same. Has a belly mower and runs very well and has no problems (I checked)
: : Is it worth it and what the heck model could this be any way

:

: To start with. Are you sure it is a International Cub? Is it yellow and white? Is it red and white? Can you find out the serial number. It should be on the front right side of the tractor. Around the steering box. How good is the paint? Does it run good with the mower on in a pull? Since any year Cub is not a powerhouse, later models better than early models, you need to see how well it runs when you are cutting grass. Not just average height either. Something to make it work a little. See if the governer picks up when it is in a pull. What size mower does it have? I don't care what anyone says, anything more than a 48" on Cub is working it too hard and will shorten it's life. Remember I am talking about just the Cub. Not a 154 or a low-boy. Check out these things before you buy. Check on the serial number and post it or e-mail me and I will tell you what year. I hope this helps in your decision.

Today's Featured Article - Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga ...
