If there is jerkyness and a lot of hyd noise I would look for a suction leak or pluged suction screen. You said you removed the service valve, or did you just take the caps off the sides of the valve. You have to remove the entire valve, which requires some enginuity to remove two bolts holding it to the tractor. After the entire valve body is removed, you will have acess to the main relief. Is the spring, ball, and seat good in that?? You mentioned sludge/crap in valve. If so the pump could be bad. You will need to drain and flush the tranny, before installing a new pump, and refill with new oil. If your tractor is a COM it is best to refill with HyTran fluid. Loren, the Acg.
