You must remove all the air in the fuel system for the engine to run. There is a plug on top of the filter assembly to remove any air that far. Make sure you turned the fuel back on! Then open the lines at the fuel injectors, with the throttle fully open and the shutdown in the run position, crank it over until you get fuel without any bubbles through to the injectors. Tighten the fittings back up and it should start. Fuel leaking at the top is probably from the return lines from the injectors. Fix them now, so you don't waste fuel.
Note: Lots of people tow them to start when they service the filter just so they don't have to mess with the fittings.
