: I just took the manifold off of my tractor and the old gasket is baked right in the manifold. How do I get this stuff off? I was going to try grinding it off but then I'd risk an uneven gasket surface. ??? Get you a small ball pien (sp?) hammer and use the round side to tap directly on the face of the old gasket baked on the manifold. The WD-40 may help. Don't be overly concerned about damageing the face of the manifold. You can get you a large flat machinist file and turn it on edge to remove gasket also. Then you can hand machine the face into better shape. The exhaust manifold gasket it made of material which will more readily adapt to uneven surface. Milan
