Box store or mom and pop store makes no difference. They all sell Chinese crap.
Lowes doesn't belong on the list of those that have lead the way to Chinese manufacturing. Menards belongs on that list though.
For lumber and general building material I have 3 choices. Lowes, Menards and a locally owned lumber yard. We always dealt with the local yard until they gave us a reason not to. I would drive 100 miles to get something before I'd cross the street to buy from those thieving bastards again.
I buy my cabinets, interior trim, siding, windows, doors, and garage doors from a mom and pop store.
I buy all my flooring and tile from a small regional supplier.
Until a few years ago I bought my paint from a regional chain that was owned by the paint manufacturer. They gave me reason to buy elsewhere so now I get my paint from a box store.
I buy my auto parts from a locally owned NAPA store.
Furniture from two locally owned stores.
Tires and auto repairs are from a small locally owned shop.
We usually go to locally owned or region chain restaurants but occasionally go to national chains like Texas Roadhouse, or Lonestar Steak House.
