Mrs. 40 wanted a short break to Edinburgh as a present for her birthday at the beginning of April....So with the children off school we took off on Wednesday morning by ferry to Scotland from Northern Ireland(2 hour crossing) We visited many bagpipe shops and all things Scottish (or chinese or pakistani????) First thing surprised me was how far advanced the crops are, usually they are a week or two behind us but this year they are maybe a week ahead! The yellow in the fields is oilseed rape in flower...potato plants are 8 inches high and spring barley is about 6 inches high in places.
The Mrs and children among all the other nationalities at Edinburgh Castle....
The castle had a crude but effective defence system!
This modern gun is fired at one pm each day....
Once inside all the defences the castle is like a small town, housing many military headquarters and remembrance chapels and also the Royal residence and crown jewels.....
Thursday was one of those days where you were too warm in the sunshine but too cold when you got in the way of the breeze coming off the North Sea!
More pics later, my pic uploading is real slow after I upload about 5 photos??????
