im trying to replace the 1-2 shift fork on a ms 420 transmission in a '57 chevy 4400 truck, the manuel stated that to remove the fork i have to first remove the reverse shifter head by driving out its pin, now heres the problem, the pin is obviously driven in from the 'top' [ this is with the top cover of the transmission upside down on the bench with the shift stick removed,] the shift rails are in nutural, and i can see no way to get to the bottom of the pin to drive it up, the pin is slightly mushroomed on the top, and if it was driven down, i dont think there is enough room to clear the top cover housing, what do i need to do here to get the pin out so i can remove the shift rail, the reverse shifter head, and then i can get the pin out of the 1-2 shift fork?
