I need a submersible trash pump that can handle feathers from a full grown chicken. Needs to be 120v and the outlet needs to be 2 in or less. Anyone have any recommendations? I have Hydromatic brand pumps now that work good until the feathers plug up the inlet. I need one that will grind them up a little if possible. I am using them in a sump basin that is catching all the wash water from a barn cleaning, most of the feathers are removed before the water work starts but not all.
I have successfully used a homemade screen to filter all large feathers in the past but the company is bringing in a crew to do it and these guys can tear up an anvil. I have seen their work first hand and I know they are not going to be patient with my screening system, last time they were here they were shoveling solids into the sump pit with a grain scoop to avoid anymore work. I'm not happy they're coming back but there isn't currently any way around it.
