Probably wouldn"t work for mowing, not much horsepower at 1/2 throttle. Might be ok for some sort of lighter PTO work.
As far as road speeds I have two 8N"s, one has the aux high range the other has the aux hi & lo ranges. The one with the high range will really scoot down the road,(seems a little faster than the one with hi & lo) it has a little slop in the steering like so many 8N"s do and it"s a bit of a thrill ride wide open high fourth gear.
