This has been floating around for years. There is no Patty Myers, whoever wrote it apparently wasn't brave enough to pen their name to it.
The colorful but inaccurate statements don't change the basic facts to which Simpson alluded: - Older Americans will collect much more in SS, Medicare and Medicaid than they've paid into those systems. That's the way it has ALWAYS worked. - Changing demographics mean that younger Americans will pay more in and get less out of the system. (In fact, "Patty" alludes to that fact when she complains about the rising SS retirement age.) - EVERYBODY favors cutting everyone else's benefits, and NOBODY wants their own benefits cut.
Here's the statement that is supposedly so offensive. It is true, and therefore it's going to offend a lot of people.
