The tests I read used Walmart marine 2-stroke-oil (for water cooled 2 strokes). Used it at a 200 to 1 ratio (200 parts diesel to 1 part 2-stroke-oil).
The prices in this test are out-of-date. For anybody who claims adding lube is "snake oil?" Kind of silly. Lube is now lower in diesel. Rotary injection pump makers like Stanadyne and Bosch clearly post their minimum lube specs. Modern low-sulfur diesel fuel is required by law to have fuel additives put into it to bring it at least close to those minimum specs. It's a matter of how much you trust fuel sellers to do it. Adding lube additive is cheap insurance IF you have a rotary-distributor pump like a Stanadyne, Bosch VE, CAV, etc. If you have an in-line pump - it is of less importance. It is the distributor part of the pump that suffers from the low lube.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
