Diesel in Bristol 20 - 25 miles east of South Bend was $4.05 today, non-tax exempt. I noticed years ago at the rest stops on I-80 through Indiana, the prices posted along the interstate are tax exempt. I pulled in once with my pickup to fuel up, and my price was about 15 cents more per gallon. I needed fuel to get home, and calculated enough to do so, not much more. The prices that they show on the billboards along the highway, tax exempt, so buyer beware and fill up ahead of time. I learned my lesson. As a matter of fact, there are a couple of trucks stops near me that are not on the highway that operate the same way. What is posted on the billboards is for tax exempt, which you find out when you step up to the cashier.
