It's a pox, a scourge, a vicious invasive that has taken over the entire country west of the Mississippi and it's a problem east of the Mississippi too. It's called cheat because it cheats farmers out of their crops. And it follows grazing, taking over before resident plants can re-establish. Its barbed, arrow-head like seeds get up animals nostrils, in their ears, behind their eye lids, if a small animal sits on them they get up you know where. Cattle get cheat sores in their mouths. And those barbed seeds get in your socks to drive you crazy. It's a nigh explosive range-fire hazard. Did I say I hate cheat?
