There were two series of 500 Case tractors. The older large frame wheatlands, with 6cyl. 377cu.in diesel. They were made in Racine. Then came the 500B. A much smaller 4cyl gas tractor, built in the Rock Island plant. The two plants were almost like two seperate companies, with their own designs. There were several duplicate model numbers in the late 50s. By the 60's these double identies were ended. Models were 400/B, 500/B, 600/B. Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
