Seams like we get bad fires every few years. Last week around my area there were around 30 houses that burned to the ground. The fire dept did a good job of protecting a lot of homes. Some were just not able to be saved. The home owners have been told over, and over again about clearing trees, and brush from around their homes. Most of the ones that had a good clearing, had a good chance of not burning. The fire dept would go to the house that had a good clearing, and try to save it, and not spend much time on a house without adequate clearing. The fire dept recommends 50 ft clear cut then 50 ft of 50 % cleared. The makes only 100 ft for a fire brake. The tree hugger lobby in our state gov will not let any more be cleared because of some little birds, Nat Catchers, who live in coastal sage plants. This space should be much greater. I feel bad for all those who lost everything they have. Since the fires I have picked up a few more mowing jobs, not how I want to pick up work. Stan
