If it's a thermofuse, it's reading temperature more than amps. For some reason things are getting too hot, as in from the control circuit for the heating element is not cycling as it should, or there is a lack of air movement to distribute the heat.
No, it is not safe to replace it with anything other than what's recommended by the manufacturer. Could cause fire, will void the warranty!
If you're sure the vent is clear, this needs to be brought to the attention of the seller of maker, whoever is going to make the decision to warranty it, replace it, or give you a refund.
