The EPA claims that "thousands" of kids died in the late 50's and early 60's due to particulate matter from diesel engines. Mind you they have no studies or autopsy reports to back this up. But OH! The pretty much shut down DDT because of a book with little to no factual data and will not back down on it because if they do people will start demanding to see research that backs up there other claims.
The biggest single problem with people getting sick from foods is the fact that we live too clean with anti bacterial this that and the other thing. Our bodies don't have the antibodies built up anymore. Those numbers sound a little fishy to me.
