I worked with a fellow some years ago who had grown up in Iowa. He said that the little farming community where he grew up was primarily Czeckoslavokian (or however you spell it.) The kids in the school system all took Czeckoslavakian from the first grade on up through high school.
He said that when he graduated from high school and attended Iowa State University he was shocked to find out the other students didn't speak Czeckoslavakian - he thought that every school in Iowa taught it. (He might have been exaggerating a little bit.)
