Posted by John T on June 08, 2014 at 06:23:35 from (216.249.72.121):

Being an engineer and shadetree farmer mechanic over the years, I've always been skeptic of after market snake oil additives and in general am NOT a fan. HOWEVER in the interest of fairness I wanted to share a couple of instances and brands WHICH ACTUALLY WORKED 100% (for auto trannys at least)

I had two different cars with high mileage auto trannys that started to hesitate way too longgggggg before they shifted (especially when cold), say first to second or second to third and/or got loosey goosey between shifts. So I added Lucas Auto Tranny Treatment AND WITHIN 50 MILES THEY STARTED WORKING PERFECTLY AND KEPT WORKING!!!!!!!!! How or why or the chemistry of detergents or seal softeners or cleaners I don't know but ONLY KNOW it worked perfect.........

Another car was a 2004 Ford Taurus with an auto tranny that vibrated and shuttered when it felt like it either shifted into overdrive or perhaps a lock up torque converter locked or unlocked (or whatever it was, it shuttered) and it was pretty bad. So I added Lucas same as above BUT IT DIDNT HELP ONE BIT hmmmmmmm. So I'm at Advanced Auto I believe and saw a product called SHUTTER STOP for auto trannys. It was only a few ounces in a squeeze out tube and Ima thinkin YEAH RIGHT, but since it specifically said IT STOPPED SHUTTER I thought what the heck and tried it. Low and behold, within only a few miles the shutter stopped and its worked perfect ever since yayyyyyy.

Soooooooo this may or may not work for your tranny or a particular problem IM ONLY SAYING it worked for me 100% in those three cars so there are at least a few situations where it cured a problem.......NO WARRANTY THIS IS NOTTTTTTTTT AN ENDORSMENT OR RECOMMENDATION BUT ONLYYYYYYYY A REPORT OF WHAT DID WORK FOR ME.

While I cant prove it helps or not, it may or may not, but its my vehicles and money and I'm happy so that's alllllllll that matters, but in like my RV I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil plus Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and I like it and in my mind I believe its good and worth the small added expense, but yall do whatever your little hearts desire, if your happy I'm happy, what a boring world it would be if we all has the same preferences lol to each their own I say.

Nuff said, Ol John T and all

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
