I think the length of time you let it drain is more important than how hot it is. I usually do oil changes hot, but you stand a much better chance of getting burned. I really don't think there are significantly more particulates in hot oil than cold, particularly on an engine with an oil filter. Hot oil drains faster, but that is offset by the time you have to wait for oil to drain out of the top end.
