If it like my older Stihl, it is a very cheap & crappy design on the choke lever. Get in there and take a look at it, it probably has slipped out of the plastic "yoke" on the main body of the saw. Once that gets worn and spread you are screwed. You will see what I'm talking about once you see it. Good Luck
