The "L" does mean low profile. For example, there is a tire that is marked "11L-16" and another marked "11:00-16". They are in no way the same tire. While they both will fit on a standard 16" implement rim the 11L-16 is vastly shorter. It was often used on combine rears and wagons while the 11:00 is predominately used as a front tractor tire but also on the rear of some combines as a taller alternative. Usually, a tire that is marked "L" is designed as a high flotation alternative to a narrower tire while trying to keep close to the narrower tire's height. Hope this helps. Mike

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
